I saw a very interesting video on youtube called 
"the four horsemen". It's a conversation between 4 authors whose works have angered the religious right (christian, jewish, and muslim). In it Christopher Hitchens, author of "God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" says in response to the idea that his words have offended the faithful, that we should all be offended by the general proposition that without 'belief', we have no way to gauge right and wrong.
