Life/death?

April 15th, 2009

Mr. B. R.

I just finished a volume of work by William W. Reade on  such a subject..

To Paraphrase the author;

“The Martydom of Man”

“We walk apon the earth when living and are put into it’s belly when we die”

He went on to explain his thoughts..

Plants are dumb creatures  — yet we feel a pang of pity for a flower trampled on…this emotion comes from our childhood where they were not merely fossils but we ‘believed’ in nature, all things that moved or changed…seemed to have a mind of their own.

There is something that resides within us, entirely independent from the body in which it is contained ~~we think that it is the mind, the soul, the genius, the spirit …which thinks, desires and decides even while we sleep,    it is busy weaving thoughts in our brains and wanders into other lands, and converses with people while awake we have never seen!

Then where does this soul/spirit    go when the Body is destroyed by time?

In our dreams …what is in our hearts   becomes a vision as we pass into sleep we feel/see one who has departed in such a real sense ..that we feel    we  have been in touch with their spirit!

Thus the grand idea of Life after Death is Born..kate..

Life after death or just death after life?

April 15th, 2009

dear kate,

I am a middle aged man…am not in poor health, not too religious  - but still worry/wonder about  whether or not we just return to the earth  after death  or  is there any proof whatsoever that we don’t end here and are somehow transported to a higher place of being? B. R.

Yeah   so this   is   my alter ego…deal with it!

my response to Shopaholic?  summed up by the late great comedienne…SOPHIE TUCKER….

sez  she~~~

“From Birth to 18    a   girl needs  good parents!

From 18-36  she needs  good looks!

From 36-55 she needs a good personality!

From 55 on  she needs CASH”

so little Miss  I JUST GOTTA HAVE IT… see where this is going…K

sorry,   your  letter on  being a ’shopaholic’  just screamed for that title!

My first thoughts were O. C. D. [obsessive compulsive disease].

This is a personality disorder…which affects social skills and quality of life. You need behaviour modification  treatment therapy..

If you cant afford this and

God knows  you could not afford fortune cookies  at this point…

you have to ask yourself these questions,

Is it a quick fix  for the blahs?

Are your purchases  un-used  or hidden?

Are you feeling guillty about this behaviour?

Would your life be richer if you shopped less?

You are spending more than you can afford,   this we know.

There is a good book called  “I Shop therfore I AM!”

[finding your place in the world in a search for yourself]

by April Bensen, Phd.

It seems you are defining yourself by this obsession for ‘things’.

Remember this ” You can NEVER get enough - of what you don’t need” A. B., Phd

[Maybe go to the Library  and check out this book..before investing in Therapy~~~ Kate

SHOPALHOLIC?

April 10th, 2009

Dear Kate,

Let’s get right to the point… I have an addiction to designer handbags. You name the designer, I got one… Coach, Louis Vuitton, Burberry…etc. and if I don’t have one then I want one. I find myself saving my money just so I can get that next purse…. and not for more important things like rent and food! I’m in debt, unemployed and not sure how I am going to pay my electric bill next month, but damn sure I am going to buy the $325 coach wallet I saw at the mall last week! I know I have a problem but don’t know how to stop!! HELP ME KATE!!!!

Signed,
Shopaholic

There is nothing more conflicted….than knowing who you are!

or worse –  than thinking you know just who the hell

you turned out  to  be.

and yet I find myself devoted to me as a subject.

Narcissim/self absorption?

yeah, why not?

Story  cannot be a romantic comedy

[smiley face here]

altho, romance and comedy are two really important ingredients.

“Some Assembly Required”

takes me for a while outside of  myself,

while all the while digging in so deep  ~~

that I am lost.

below is paraphrased from a magazine article,

get this;

“Some while back there was a newspaper story about an ape in Afica,

being studied by scientists and after months and months

of coaxing  –the ape produced the first drawing ever

charcoaled by an animal…

this sketch showed the bars of the poor creatures cage!!”

I may not be able to bear the reality.

Hey, like Dennis Leary sez,

“Life sux, get a fuckin’ helmet.”

more, much more to come…k

The Four Horsemen?
Link was excellent, men long winded.

Why does Religion have a sort of charmed  status, a sort of immunization?   that’s easy!
…the religious right has for centuries..proclaimed that   ‘Belief without evidence  is noble..’  it is considered downright rude  to think otherwise in some circles.
and the good folks bought it .. so afraid to question the old guy with the white beanie..

it would be tantamount to admitting  they had wasted their entire lives on stories/fables   made up by men quite like themselves..with the best of intentions.

They even have a name for those that would dare to
ask for more..a Doubting Thomas!

Why  I know perfectly sane people..that actually plant the statue of St.Joseph  on their lawns    upside down…with his head buried
in dirt…for extra blessings…
Sorry  I   cannot   wrap  my mind around that one!

ps I consider myself an honorable person  perhaps even on a good day   a thinking person…buat no convert here…love kate

“The Peter Principle”
~~~  no no   sorry ~~ this will not be another testament
to the never ending quest  for  sex -on - demand..
btw   what ever happened  to   ’salt peter’?
in my memory…this was   a potion  to ‘keep it in your pants’
[also  used to make gun powder?]
years back….men did not have the problems they have today..
[why?]
in fact, history will bear me out….men seemed to be in need of
something  that would  retard  the sex
drive…ok   so thats my
homage to the little blue pill…
My apology  to Laurence J. Peter…the author of
“The Peter Principle”
He  argued  “that people tend to be elevated
to the level of their personal incompetence…”
Sadly I concur  and yet I understand…that we as humans are
incredibly complex creatures and no one of us
think alike…
We all start off believing  in our Free Will
and yet
given the physical factors…schools, books, tapes,
music, and the environment we live in, lead  to much
of our  behavior  each day..whether good or bad..
Religion  plays a role..it would be senseless to
allow the faithful  [and by that I mean
those few folks that make the ritual  trek to church]
to go home believing  that  their  own free will to do good..
that it was not in play!
They preach  it is imperative to believe that  we can improve
ourselves by ‘willing’ to do so.
We say  things like
“There but for the Grace of God, go  I…”
does this mean   that God plays favorites?
and everyone   walking around  without an
affliction  is a ‘chosen one’
nah!!
cant be
talk to me!!  kate
The Universe Works!
THE UNIVERSE WORKS
this is true  in so many ways for me    but   what does it say to you?
God works in mysterious ways?
It Is what is Is?
What goes around  comes around?
Fate?
sounds insurmountable, subdued,
and generally whipped to me..to just throw in the rag
and say….outta my hands!
No  I wont settle for this  and neither should you..
Yes   Like you I have often uttered   “Let Go and Let God”
but he wasn’t talking about….looking for work, living and loving in  real life…what that means..is..when you have exhausted  every fiber  of your being to solving  any of life’s dilemmas,  you   in the interest of your own mental  health   must give it over to a higher court..
It stands to reason..we are only mortal…keep that in mind.
There are times in life…when   although  you cannot fathom  how  this or that person  has reached this or that conclusion…you have  to say…hey..
I did the very best with all that I had….and  MOVE ON!!
KNOWING  THAT the Universe Works….is  realizing….that  when you pray to a higher  being…and  wait   for  the outcome…you   are not always…rewarded  in the  way  you had  thought you would be…
you kick stones…and say…He never answers MY Prayers..
Fool….He did answer…and the answer was “NO”!!
NOT FOR FUN…
‘PERCEPTION MANAGEMENT’
[P.M.]
 not familiar?
This is the Defense Departments..Public Relations b.s.
Manipulation, mind games, be careful what you
 injest from the ‘mass media’..
Emergence into insanity includes
the Internet today…fastest growing folly.
/////////////////////////////////////////
okay  enough cloak and dagger crap.
what about repressed memories?
any thoughts on this??
You know ther shit you dont want to think about?
Your subconscious of past events that
seem beyond your ability to deal with
 at the time they are happening…[real time]
is the brain’s fail-safe mechanism to protect us.
We simply block it all out.
This is how we go on in life  when tragedy strikes…
